200th Anniversary Service - 1991Back | Names List | Home |
In August, 1991 the congregation of St John's United Church in Wallace held an outdoor service at the former home of Thomas Huestis in North Wallace, to mark the 200th anniversary of the first Methodist service in the community. It was a lovely summer day, threatening always to rain, and with enough of a breeze to hold off the mosquitoes. The minister, Reverend Beth Johnston, arrived at the site in a horse-drawn carriage and preached to the assembly. The picture above shows Harvey Gullon in his finery, with Rev Johnston next to him. Harvey was the source for much of the original information in this family genealogy project. Rev Johnston is now in Rexton, NB, I believe. |
This picture shows Lorna and Bob Huestis [H123233] and Alan Huestis [H1232332] (the owner of this website) and Mrs Jean Leard, the present owner of the Thomas Huestis house. Mrs Leard's mother lived in the house for many years. The house is part of the farm of Lorne and Jean Leard - it is almost directly across the Wallace Bay from St John's United Church.
I shall take some more pictures of the house this summer.
